The Amazing Power of Becoming Unforgettable In Your Market
Your marketing efforts don’t drive the business growth you seek because NOBODY remembers you five minutes after they see your post, email, video, etc!
In other words, you my friend, are…
Easily FORGETABLE!
And when that’s true, you find yourself stressing about posting, sending emails to your lists, learning the latest algorithm “hacks”, or figuring out "what funnel works now." But those aren't nearly as big of problems as you may think.
The ONE problem you have is that you SUCK at being a thought leader…
In a World That DEMANDS
You Become a Better Thought Leader!
This will make more sense after I tell you about one of the funniest black guys to ever walk the earth.
In December last year, I burnt the chicken that I was making for dinner because of Kevin Hart's special on Netflix. There was a bit about a gorilla adventure he went on with his whole family in Africa and the guide is giving them instructions on what to do, and what NOT to do, when they encounter the gorillas. Kevin is, of course, scared SHITLESS about this and when it's go-time, he forgets the single most important instruction the guide gave him and he's face-to-face with a massive silverback.
I'm DYING laughing the whole time literally leaning into the screen like I'm IN Africa with him and completely forget I've got chicken turning the color of Kevin's skin (whoops)
Yes, that’s some damn good storytelling but it’s also ‘thought leadership’ because it’s UNIQUE. There’s a fresh exciting take that I had never heard before.
And by the way, when you read "thought leader," you probably picture some guru on a TED Talk stage. But that's not what I'm talking about here, and not the way I want you to think about the term going forward. Instead it's about someone who makes people REMEMBER what they said and WHO said it.
When Jesus came to spread the good news, he did this through parables.
*The prodigal son.
*The good Samaritan,
*The mustard seed.
*The lost sheep.
God knows us human beings are total idiots sometimes and we don't even realize it, so He just came down himself to put things in dummy proof language so we could actually strengthen our faith in Jesus.
You know who else gets this?
J. Cole.
The man turns his life experiences into music that hits so hard, entire stadiums are spittin' his lyrics word-for-word.
Now, I’ll be honest…
To command someone's attention and make them feel something through stories and your presence is a literal ART FORM and it's something…
AI Will NEVER Do Better Than You!
ChatGPT can't tell people about the time you almost cried in a Costco parking lot and how that random moment shifted your entire business philosophy.
It can't share what your kid said last Tuesday that made you completely rethink how you show up for your customers.
It doesn't have a burnt chicken story. You DO. And those moments are pure gold.
So how do YOU do this?
How do you turn YOUR stories into content that makes people remember you, trust you, and actually buy from you?
You've Got Two Ways:
1. You work intentionally on the skill to craft compelling stories and fresh angles yourself (which is learnable but takes time most business owners don't have)
OR…
2. You adopt a system that lets you capture your raw thoughts, your experiences, your authentic voice and then shape that into pieces that actually carry energy and commands attention.
Either way, the principle remains:
It has to be YOU.
Your perspective. Your experiences. Your take on what matters in your industry and more importantly…
What Matters For YOUR Audience!
The better you get at taking your ideas and communicating them to your market with energy, story, and conviction… the more influence, impact, and SALES you create.
But with no fresh angle, no compelling story, no energy that makes people stop scrolling and actually pay attention? You're cooked.
I think a lot of businesses owners start to go wrong when they think they need "better copy” or a “better offer.”
They hire a marketing team who gives them some new headlines and maybe a sales page that converts at 2% instead of 1.5%.
Cool. But that's not what moves the needle long-term.
Because what I've realized working with clients who are actually growing and creating eager to buy audiences, is that you can have the most perfectly optimized funnel on the planet, but if nobody remembers WHO you are or WHY they should care about what you're saying, you're just another digital piece of shit they stepped on during their scrolling.
Meanwhile, the business owner who tells THOUSANDS of memorable stories…that person just created a customer for life.
But unfortunately, this is all…
The Long Game Very Few Want to Play.
Look, I get it. You want results NOW. You want the ad campaign that scales beyond the freaking moon. You want the funnel that prints money while you kick back with a cold one while your kids run around in grassy meadows in the sunset.
But you know what actually compounds over time?
Stories, fresh perspectives and your unique voice showing up consistently.
That's the game I'm playing with my clients. And to give you a peek into what that looks like practically:
One client runs a high-ticket coaching program. Before working together, their emails were...fine. Tips, strategies, the constant hard pitching. Nobody was complaining, but nobody was rushing to buy either.
Now, we're pulling stories from his morning workouts, his conversations with his barber, the random observations that hit him while he’s home with his kiddos bouncing all over the walls. We're turning those into emails that his list actually responds to and the sales calls changed overnight. People show up already bought in because they've been following his thought leadership through these stories. They're not coming to be convinced, they're simply coming to figure out logistics.
Another one of my clients sells physical products in a super competitive e-commerce space. Everyone in his niche is doing the same bullshit where they send discounts in every email and overwhelming graphics.
We Said Screw That!
Instead, we're telling the stories behind why he started the company, what he learned building it, the failures that shaped his approach. We're positioning him as someone who THINKS differently about the industry and more importantly someone who’s NOT only just the industry but a real freaking person like the buyer is.
His organic reach went through the roof and his repeat customer rate completely changed because people love buying from HIM.
It took me a while to realize this is actually what I do. I thought I was just a copywriter who writes emails, scripts, captions and sales copy. But that's just scratching the surface of what I do. What I'm really doing is helping business owners step into their role as thought leaders strategically to make the best
I'm helping them take their authentic stories, their unique perspectives, their hard-won insights—and translate that into content that creates the same energy Kevin Hart creates in a comedy special or Jesus from the mountain tops…Just in email form. Or Instagram form. (The medium doesn’t matter, whatever platform makes sense for your audience.)
But anyways, if you take anything away from this, let it be this shift:
Stop asking "what should I say?"
Stop copying what other people in your industry are doing.
Stop doing the bare minimum.
Start asking, "what do I want to be known for?"
Start telling stories only YOU can tell.
Start being UNFORGETTABLE.
Lean into the things that never change, like the fact that people remember stories that make them feel something, and people buy from people they trust.
SIMPLE.
